मूंगफली एक तिलहन फसल है। मूंगफली प्रोटीन का एक सस्ता औऱ अच्छा स्रोत है। 100 ग्राम कच्ची मूंगफली में 1 लीटर दूध के बराबर प्रोटीन होता है। मूंगफली में प्रोटीन की मात्रा 25 फीसदी से भी अधिक होती है। यह पाचन शक्ति बढ़ाने में भी कारगर है। साधारण तौर पर इसकी बुवाई जून से जुलाई महीने में की जाती है। इसकी खेती के लिए दोमट मिट्टी उपयुक्त मानी जाती है। मूंगफली सभी रूपों में कच्ची, तली हुई, भुनी हुई या बिना पकाए पूरे साल मिलती है। मूंगफली को गरीबों का बादाम कहा जाता है। क्योंकि यह बदाम के बराबर ही पोषण देती है। जबकि कीमत के मामले को काफी सस्ती होती है। इसे देसी काजू भी कहा जाता है। मूंगफली के उत्पादन में चीन को प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त है। इसके उत्पादन में भारत दूसरे स्थान पर है।भारत मे गुजरात मूंगफली का सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक राज्य है।

भारत मे मूंगफली का उत्पादन– भारत में मूंगफली का उत्पादन गुजरात आंध्र प्रदेश, तमिलनाडु, कर्नाटक राज्य में किया जाता है। इसके अलावा उत्तर प्रदेश, पंजाब, मध्य प्रदेश में भी मूंगफली की विशेष खेती की जाती है।

मूंगफली की उन्नत किस्मे– एच यन जी 10, आर जी 425, टी जी 37 ए, जी जी 2, जी जी 20, सी 501, जी जी 7, आरती 425, आर जे 382, गंगापुरी, यम ये 10, टी जी 37 ए, यम 548, ज्योति नंबर 13, यम 522, यम 197, अम्बर आदि मूंगफली की कुछ उन्नतशील किस्मे है।
